Special thanks to Autism Evansville for their guidance in developing this resource. In addition to the social story, you can also view a virtual tour of our Train at EMTRAC.

Group Tours

Interested in bringing your group to the Evansville Museum? Contact the Curator of Education at education@emuseum.org to arrange for a visit. Want to add a guided tour on to your visit? Docent-led tours cost an additional $2 per person and arrangements must be finalized at least two weeks before your scheduled visit date. Options for guided tours include:

Museum Highlights Tour

During the Highlights Tour, your Docent guide will lead you on overview tour of the Evansville Museum. During this fast-paced, 45 minute tour you will be able to explore the Museum’s permanent galleries. Pick THREE out of the FOUR galleries:

  • Hands-on Science: Explore and play in the hands-on science exhibits
  • History: Travel back in time and take a walk through Rivertown, USA
  • Art: Look closely and learn about the artwork on display

You Be the Art Critic

In this 45–55-minute session, participants will view and discuss selected works exhibited in the Museum galleries, give close attention to a work of their own choice, prepare an evaluation/critique of the work, and present their critique to their peers.

EMTRAC – Evansville Museum Transportation Center

Discover the history of transportation in Evansville! Students learn about early river and rail travel and the development of street transportation and aviation in Evansville. Highlights include a model railroad vignette and the Evansville Museum train, a real beauty comprised of a 1908 steam engine, 1926 club car, and circa 1900 caboose. This 45-minute tour includes the entire Museum Transportation Center and train. Note: The train is not handicap-accessible. If this is a concern, please contact the Museum Curator to discuss options for your group.
