When is the Museum open?

Closed Monday - Wednesday

Thursday – Saturday – 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Sunday – 12:00 – 5:00 PM

The Museum is closed on the following days: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Birthday, Presidents’ Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day.

What is the Auto-Renewal Program?

The Auto-Renewal Program ensures that your support of the Evansville Museum is ongoing. You can enroll in Auto-Renewal by contacting the Membership Office, or by selecting the option to enroll when joining or renewing online. We have two options for Auto-Renewal. We offer annual or monthly auto-renewal. For monthly auto-renewal, a minimum of a 12-month commitment, and opt-in to auto-renewal is required.

Note, for monthly auto-renewal, if you cancel before the full 12 months you will automatically be charged the balance of the annual membership.

In order to cancel your monthly or annual auto-renewal, you must contact the membership office at 812-425-2406 ext. 231.

How do I schedule a field trip?

Reservations for all field trips can be submitted by filling out the below form or e-mailing education@emuseum.org. The Evansville Museum’s Curator of Education will work with you to create a custom schedule to meet your educational needs.

What is the cost to rent the museum for my event?

Prices range from $200 – $6,000 depending on the size of the event and the spaces needed. Discounts for 501 (c)(3) organizations are available.

What are the admission prices?

$12 for Not-Yet Member Adult (18+)

$8 for Not-Yet Member Youth (4-17) or Student

What is the membership refund policy?

Membership contributions are not refundable or transferable.

When are field trips scheduled?

Most field trips are scheduled Tuesday through Friday, 9am to 12pm. If your group requires a different time frame, please contact education@emuseum.org to set up a customized visit.

What areas are available to rent?

The museum has many areas listed above that are available to rent. Depending on your event goals, one or more areas may be utilized for each event. You are welcome to visit the museum spaces any time during public hours. Please call to schedule a visit.

How do we get to the Museum?

The Evansville Museum of Arts, History & Science is located in the Historic District, just a short walk from Downtown Evansville along the Ohio River in Sunset Park.

How long is my membership valid?

Until the end of the month one year from date of purchase.

How long are the field trips?

Most field trips consist of one to two programs and one theater show. The entire field trip usually lasts about 3 hours, from 9am to 12pm.

Are tables and chairs included in the rental fee?

No. Tables and chairs are not available through the museum. Please ask for our preferred vendors list for rental companies, caterers, and entertainment.

Do you have tour guides or is your museum self-guided?

The permanent collection galleries and temporary exhibitions may be self-guided with interactive “Curiosity Cubes” and other hands-on activities designed for use by children and families available throughout the Museum.

For groups of 10 people or more, Docent-guided tours may be requested for an additional fee. Requests can be made by contacting education@emuseum.org or by calling 812-425-2406 ext. 226. Requests must be made at least two weeks in advance.

Do I have to wait until my current membership expires in order to renew?

You can renew anytime before your membership expires. It will extend your membership’s expiration date by a year.

How far out should I schedule a field trip?

Field trips can be scheduled up to a year in advance. It is recommended that you schedule your field trip two to three months in advance of your desired visit date. All field trip details must be finalized at least two weeks prior to your visit date.

What is included in the rental fee?

The rental fee includes the use of the agreed upon rental area(s), kitchen or catering area access, podium and microphone, Wi-Fi and internet connection, and video screens in two rental areas.

What is your photography policy?

Photography must be conducted without disruption to Museum operations or limitation to the accessibility of exhibitions, entrances/exits, doorways, and high traffic areas.

To help us preserve the outdoor sculptures do not climb, lean or sit on any artworks. Do not place props on the sculptures.

Tripods, monopods (including selfie sticks), drones and other photographic equipment are not permitted in the galleries or Sculpture Garden.

Flash photography is not allowed in galleries.

Photography is permitted for private, noncommercial use only. Photographs may not be published, sold, reproduced, distributed, or otherwise commercially exploited in any manner.

Unless otherwise noted, photography of temporary exhibition or borrowed works of art is not permitted.

Can I give a membership as a gift?

You can purchase a gift membership over the phone at 812-425-2406 ext. 231 or in person at the front desk during opening hours. We also offer the option to purchase online but note that the Membership Associate will contact you within 2-3 business days for information on the gift receiver.

How many students can I bring?

Field trips require a minimum of 10 students and can accommodate a maximum of 90 students at a time. For a groups of 90 students and over, please contact education@emuseum.org to learn about options for your group.

What Additional Fees can I expect?

Off-Duty police officer(s) for events with alcohol and Museum Guard(s)

How may I get involved at the Evansville Museum?

There are many ways to get involved with the Museum through careers, internships, volunteering and memberships. Visit get involved to learn about career, volunteer, and internship opportunities or become a member to support the Museum!

Can I update my contact information online?

Currently, we are unable to accommodate contact information updates through our website. Please send an email to membership@emuseum.org with your information you would like to update, or call us at 812-425-2406 ext. 231.

What is the the rental space capacity?

Accommodations can be made for 10 – 500 people, depending on the rental area(s).

Is the Museum available for event rentals?

Do you offer student memberships?

Students attending full-time at any college or university can join for $40 annually or $4.50 monthly. A valid student ID is required to qualify for this membership level.

What types of events CAN’T be held at Evansville Museum?

Proms, fraternity and sorority formals, and political or religious events cannot be scheduled at the museum. Weddings, receptions, and high school reunions are permitted.

What is the Museum’s policy on donation requests?

The Evansville Museum is pleased to contribute two Museum general admission passes, two Koch Immersive Theater & Planetarium passes and/or a Patron Level Membership to eligible non-profit organizations for fundraising events. Please visit donation requests.

What are other ways to support the Evansville Museum?

The Annual Appeal supports the Evansville Museum and its general operating expenses. Annual Appeal donations are considered fully tax-deductible.For more information, please call the Membership Office Tuesday-Friday between the hours of 9 AM and 5 PM at 812-425-2406 ext. 231.

How do I select vendors for my event?

The museum provides a list of preferred vendors to help in the planning of your event. You may choose from the provided list or use your own vendors. Please note that the museum has final approval of all vendors.

How does the Evansville Museum comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act?

The Museum is committed to providing programming that is accessible to the widest possible audience. We are actively working to increase the accessibility and usability of our programs, facilities and website, and in doing so adhere to many of the available standards and guidelines. A limited number of wheelchairs are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Museum Reception Desk, and motorized wheelchairs are permitted. Our goal is to be as inclusive as possible. If you need an accommodation, please call 812-425-2406.

Currently, the train exhibit in EMTRAC is not wheelchair accessible. If this is a concern any member(s) of your group, please contact the Museum before your visit.

Can we serve alcohol at our event?

A licensed bartender may serve alcohol at your event. Some events may require an off-duty police officer to be present.

How do I go about scheduling a field trip?

Museum tours for school field trip groups may be scheduled for Tuesdays through Fridays. Tour hours on these days are 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Individual exceptions may be made upon request. Field trips may be scheduled up to a year in advance. The Museum requires tour reservations to be finalized at least two weeks in advance to allow the scheduling of tour Docents. We recommend making a field trip reservation approximately 2-3 months in advance.

Are there any restrictions?

The following are not permitting in any areas: glitter, confetti, birdseed, bubbles, open flames, candles, glow sticks, crayons, fountains of any kind, and live animals with the exception of service animals.

If something happens, am I held liable?

We expect that users will respect our space; however, accidents do happen. A one-day insurance rider needs to be presented before each event. Companies and organizations can easily obtain one by calling their agent. Individuals can obtain one at www.theeventhelper.com.

Is there parking available for our guests?

Yes, there is ample free parking available for your guests.

Can I add a tour to coincide with my event?

Of course! Evansville Museum’s Education Curator may facilitate arrangements for such activities upon request. An additional fee will apply.

How do I reserve space?

Contact Chelsie Walker at marketing@emuseum.org to discuss your event. Chelsie will send you a contract, which you will sign and return along with a 50% deposit for of the rental amount. The remainder of the cost will be due one week prior to the event date. The museum accepts Visa, Mastercard, and Discover, as well as checks and cash.
