Program to Recall Historic Tri-State Tornado

On Sunday, March 16 at 2 pm, author Justin Harter will recall the Tri-State Tornado that devasted portions of Southeast Missouri, Southern Illinois, and Southwestern Indiana on Wednesday, March 18, 1925. The author of the 2024 book “The Great Tri-State Tornado”, Harter will provide details of this deadly storm that killed 695 people and injured over 2,000 over its 219-mile path.

Justin Harter is a narrative nonfiction writer, copywriter, and website consultant. He has written stories on General Ulysses S. Grant, southern railroads, and bank robber Herman “Baron” Lamm. He has worked as a genealogist, journalist, and opinion writer for local newspapers.

This talk is presented in conjunction with the exhibition The Tri-State Tornado: Tragedy and Resilience, February 2 – July 6, 2025.
