CineSpace is a collaboration between NASA and Houston Cinema Arts Society that offers filmmakers around the world a chance to share their works inspired by, and using, actual NASA imagery through a short film competition. We’ll screen the winners and finalists of the recent 2020 competition in our Koch Immersive Theater and Planetarium on November 21.

International Drone Film Festival

Saturday, June 6 marks the date for the 3ND ANNUAL EVANSVILLE MUSEUM INTERNATIONAL DRONE FILM FESTIVAL. During the Festival short films from around the world will compete for cash prizes and a chance to be selected for our event. Two screenings of amazing films will be shown in the Museum’s Koch Immersive Theater & Planetarium from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM and from 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM. An announcement of winning selections, award presentation, and comments by our jurors will occur at 4:00 PM following the second screening session.

Visitors can view some of the best examples of aerial cinematography from around the globe. Admission to the Drone Film Festival is $5 for Museum Members and $12 for Future Members.

Screening: The Wizard of Oz

In the 80th anniversary year of The Wizard of Oz, the Evansville Museum will present a special screening of this film. This classic movie, starring Judy Garland, will be shown in the Koch Immersive Theater & Planetarium on Thursday, November 14 at 6:00 PM. Retired EVSC film studies teacher Terry Hughes will provide commentary about the film. Tickets for the show are $10 per person and attendees may enjoy complimentary popcorn and soft drinks before the movie from 5:15-5:45 PM.

Family Movie Night - The Karate Kid

See acclaimed animated features, films and documentaries on the giant screen in the Koch Immersive Theater & Planetarium. Admission to Family Movie Night is $7 per person.

In celebration of this film’s 35th anniversary, we present The Karate Kid, the story of a bullied teen who learns self-defense and self-confidence from a sage handyman and where the phrase “wax on, wax off” entered into our popular culture.

Pat Morita, who plays Mr. Miyagi, was nominated for a Best Actor in a Supporting Role Oscar® for his role as neighborhood handyman in The Karate Kid.
