On Tuesday, June 25, 2024, the Board of Trustees of the Evansville Museum of Arts, History & Science appointed Jennifer Evans the new John Streetman Executive Director. Evans assumes the role from Mary McNamee Bower, who becomes Executive Director Emerita. Stephanie M. Engelbrecht, Chair of the Museum’s Search Committee, says, “The Search Committee, Board of Trustees, and Museum staff are eager to welcome Jennifer and are confident she will lead the organization to further heights as the arts, history and science destination of the region.”
Jennifer Evans is an experienced non-profit executive with an extensive background in development and fundraising, and public service administration. A Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Evansville with a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership, Evans also earned certification for developing annual sustainability from the Indiana University Center on Philanthropy.
Evans comes to the Museum with experience as a Major Gifts / Planned Giving Officer at WNIN Tri-State Public Media and Director of Development with Evansville’s Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden. She is active in the community having been a volunteer with the Evansville Trails Coalition, the Jacobsville Area Community Corporation, and was the North Main Liaison for the Mayor’s Cultural Development Taskforce. She currently serves as Urban Seeds Board Chair. Evans will begin her tenure as the Museum’s Executive Director on July 22.
Adam Borgman, current President of the Board of Trustees, says “During one of the most critical and exciting times in the Museum’s history, it was important to identify a new leader who could build upon the great success and foundation that outgoing Executive Director Mary Bower has created. We identified Jennifer as a local leader and know that she will bring her community connections, business acumen, and leadership qualities to the Museum.”
