ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
This exhibition is a photographic comparison of select historical settings in Evansville with their modern-day counterparts. The historical settings range from the late 19th to the mid-20th century. In selecting the historical images, thought was given to the composition of the photographs—including the presence of people, vehicles, and general activity. Another consideration was the ability to enlarge the vintage images in an acceptable manner. As a note, some efforts were made to remove blemishes from the historical images, but no alterations were made to the settings themselves. In looking at the modern images, you will observe significant changes to many locales while a few show continuity. We hope you enjoy this journey down “memory lane” and how various areas of Evansville looked then and now.
