This exhibition highlights Evansville’s historic tie to the production of refrigerators with an emphasis on the nearly 90 year period when units were manufactured in the city. Through actual refrigerators, images, advertisements and other material, companies such as Hercules, Servel, Sunbeam, Seeger, Servel, International Harvester, Whirlpool, and GE Appliances, a Haier company, will be interpreted as industry grew to become an integral part of the city’s economy. The exhibition will also explore how refrigerators work and the vast impact this technology had on changing people’s daily lives.
