Happiness Goes Viral:  James Hood’s Mesmerica

Mesmerica is a powerful visual music show that is crafted to evoke a sense of joy and happiness. This show opened in a few weeks ago in our Immersive Theater & Planetarium and we are seeing sell-out crowds, something we have not seen in a long time.

Mesmerica is a visual music journey that brings together the music of award-winning composer and percussionist James Hood, together with amazing, animated 3D art curated from artists around the world. Mesmerica is the fastest-selling full-dome music show ever. Since its inception, it has been seen by over 300,000 people. We’re fortunate to be able to offer it to our audiences here in the Tri-State.

How is this show different? For starters, it was nominated for the first-ever Producers Guild of America’s Innovation Award. Unlike the music in a laser light show, this family-friendly, full-dome experience designed to transcend time, relax, and soothe. The result is an experience which is simultaneously an epic immersive visual journey and an opportunity to de-stress. And let’s face it, we could all use a little less stress in our lives, right? Additionally, I would not be surprised that some of those who have already experienced it will come back to experience it again.

The soundtrack is from James Hood’s album Mesmerica and is based around the sound of a uniquely soothing percussion instrument called “the hang.” Hood is a versatile musical pioneer. His lengthy and varied musical resume includes playing drums in rock band The Pretenders and many other musical pursuits. His album, Ceremony, reached #1 on World and New Age charts in 2014 then repeated that success once again with the release of the album Pure Ceremony in 2015.

The Mesmerica experience continues Friday and Saturday nights through December 17. Tickets for Mesmerica are available at: tickets.mesmerica.com/evansville.
