The Hot and Energetic Universe
The Hot and Energetic Universe presents several of the greatest achievements of modern astronomy related to celestial observations made possible by high energy astrophysics.
High energy astrophysics plays a key role in the understanding of our universe, revealing processes which take place beyond the limits of visible light. The Hot and Energetic Universe probes hot gases released around supermassive black holes and in clusters of galaxies. The observations of high energy radiation provides important information about galaxies, neutron stars, supernova remnants and stars.
The full-dome movie explores the XMM-Newton and Integral missions, two leaders in the exploration of our X-ray and gamma-ray universe. The Hot and Energetic Universe also includes a sneak-peek at the Athena Mission, to be launched in 2028, which will carry the most sensitive X-ray telescope ever launched into space. The program was produced by the European Space Agency
One World, One Sky
Produced by Sesame Workshop, the non-profit educational organization behind Sesame Street®, One World, One Sky: Big Bird’s Adventure, is a cross-cultural planetarium show geared toward children ages 4 to 6. Through the lens of astronomy, children join Elmo, Big Bird and a Muppet from China named Hu Hu Zhu to explore the night sky.
Perfect Little Planet
Our program for older children follows the antics of an alien family from another star system seeking the perfect vacation spot. Imagine the ultimate space vacation! Perfect Little Planet will help you discover our solar system through a new set of eyes. Fly over the surface of Pluto, our best known Dwarf Planet. Dive over the ice cliffs of Miranda. Sail through the rings of Saturn. Feel the lightning storms of Jupiter. And walk on the surface of Mars. Which destination would you choose? This program is a solar system journey for space travelers of all ages.
Dinosaurs at Dusk!
Dinosaurs at Dusk is a learning adventure of a father and his teenage daughter Lucy, who share a fascination for all things that fly. You will travel back in time to meet the pterosaurs and the ancestors of modern-day birds: the feathered dinosaurs. Lucy and her father navigate from continent to continent, looking for clues about the origins of flight. When time runs out they experience first-hand the cataclysmic “last day” of the dinosaurs.
The journey to reach the stars began with our earliest dreams of flying, and led to landing on the moon and sending a probe to Pluto. But that’s only the beginning. Space Next offers a glimpse into tomorrow, and the possibilities of what is to come by way of private space developments and national space programs. The result is an immersive display of interplanetary excellence sure to inspire a generation of explorers, scientists, and dreamers. Come discover what’s next.
Journey 80 million years back in time to an age when mighty dinosaurs dominated the land – and an equally astonishing assortment of ferocious creatures swam, hunted, and fought for survival beneath the vast, mysterious prehistoric seas. Stunning photo-realistic imagery re-creates the perilous underwater realm of two young, dolphin-sized marine reptiles called Dolichorhynchops, or Dollies, and follows their incredible journey through waters ruled by some of the most awesome predators ever to prowl the Earth’s oceans.
Flight of the Butterflies
An interconnected scientific adventure story that spans not only thousands of miles, but generations. Learn about the remarkable Monarch butterfly migration, the most incredible migration on Earth, and the determined scientist who spent 40 years trying to discover exactly where the butterflies mysteriously disappeared when they flew south for winter.
