 WHAT WE OFFER

OUR SPECIAL ECLIPSE EXHIBITION

August  20, 2023 – April 8, 2024

The exhibition, Eclipse 2024, will use hands-on materials, photographs and colorful graphics to explain the unique experience of witnessing a total solar eclipse. The exhibition examines the underlying conditions resulting from the alignment of the Sun, Moon and Earth which can combine to produce an eclipse. Visitors will come to know how solar eclipses have been perceived throughout history and learn about the geometry that makes a solar eclipse possible. Incorporated into the display are eclipse stories from those who have experienced an eclipse.

Our eclipse-oriented planetarium show further demonstrates the underlying conditions which combine to produce solar eclipses. Hosted by the staff of our planetarium and using our Digistar graphics projection system, visitors will see first-hand the geometry that makes a solar eclipse possible. A realistic simulation of the eclipse is included in the show. Admission to our eclipse planetarium show, or any full-dome movie, is complimentary with Museum admission.
