PRESENTED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE MACYS FUND OF THE FEDERATED DEPARTMENT STORES FOUNDATION

EXPLORE INDIANA MUSEUM CAMP JUNE 9-13

The Evansville Museum continually strives to provide all community members with opportunities for continued education, and we feel that Museum Camp is an important component in fulfilling those needs for children. In an effort to further our mission as a community partner, MUSEUM CAMP 2008 is presented in partnership with the MACYS FUND OF THE FEDERATED DEPARTMENT STORES FOUNDATION.

Designed by the Museum’s Education Department, Museum Camp is a fun, safe, activity-filled summer day camp that encourages participatory learning experiences for children who, in Fall of 2008, will be entering grades two through six. Campers will explore the Museum galleries and learn through creative interactive activities that will include checking out the Koch Planetarium and creating hands-on projects.

Overseen by the Education Assistant and led by Museum Staff and Docents, the program is limited to 50 children to allow generous adult-to-child interaction.

2008 Martha and merritt dejong

artist-in-residence

Join Artist-in-Residence PHILIP JACKSON for a week of painting and drawing workshops in August!  This

painting workshop is intended for the avid painter wanting to learn a contemporary approach to an age old master’s technique. Each class will be divided into individual parts of the technique’s process ending with 1-2 finished

paintings at the end of the session. This process takes anywhere from 6-10 layers of painting to complete.

Considering the painting time and allotted drying time this technique makes for a very intensive and patient process but finished results are incredible. The subject matter used for the painting will be the still life. Jackson’s exciting involvement with the subject of the still life in his personal work will bring new light to the development in the

classroom.
