ELIGIBILITY
Any artist residing in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio, or Tennessee may enter. All work must be original, completed within the last three years, and not previously exhibited in the Mid-States Art Exhibition.
MEDIA AND LIMITATIONS
The competition is open for the following categories: painting, drawing, graphic arts, collage, sculpture, and mixed media. Entries must not exceed 96 inches in any direction and/or 150 pounds. Large sculpture should be weatherproofed for outdoor display. No entry that requires the artist to be present for moving or assembly will be accepted. No photography is accepted.
ENTRY FEE AND PROCEDURES
NOTE DIGITAL ENTRY OPPORTUNITY
$15.00 fee entitles entrant to submit up to TWO entries. Make check payable to the Evansville Museum of Arts, History & Science.
Artist may submit up to two 2” x 2” 35mm color slides of EACH entry; one main view and the other an alternate view. Artists may also submit high-resolution digital photographs of original artwork on a disc. CD entries must be in JPEG format only. All digital entries must be accompanied by a color printout of the image(s). Slides and digital entries will be accepted from August 1 - September 19, 2010. Slides and discs must be labeled with information that corresponds to the entry form.
Send or deliver COMPLETED application (including sale price, insurance value, purchase award eligibility), entry fee, slides or CD, notification sheet, and S.A.S.E. to Art Committee.
Only work selected by the juror will be exhibited. Notification sheets and CD or slides will be mailed by October 8, 2010, only if a self addressed stamped envelope is provided. Slides of accepted work will be kept for the Evansville Museum’s slide collection. The Museum will not be responsible for loss or damage to any slides submitted. Utmost care will be taken in handling.
INSURANCE
All works accepted for exhibition will be insured, while on the premises, at a value agreeable to the artist and the Museum. Maximum insurance by the Museum for any entry will be $1,500.00. The Museum will not be responsible for insuring work in transit or works unclaimed after March 18, 2011.
RECEIVING
Works selected for exhibition will be received hand delivered or shipped PREPAID from October 18 through November 5, 2010 during Museum hours: Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; Sunday noon to 4:00 p.m. Hand delivered packing materials will not be retained by the Museum. Please call ahead to assure that a staff member is available to accept your work.
The Museum reserves the right for the Juror to reject, upon review, work with unacceptable craftsmanship and/or quality not discernible in the slides or digital images.
RETURN OF ARTWORK
Exhibited work may be claimed from March 8 - 18, 2011, during the previously stated Museum hours. The Museum will not be responsible for work not claimed by March 18, 2011.
Shipped work will be returned by UPS if possible, unless specified otherwise by the artist. All shipping costs and liability for damage are the responsibility of the artist.
SALES
The Museum does not take commissions for the sale of works from this exhibition. Purchasers will make checks payable directly to the artists.
AGREEMENT
Submission for a work of art to this exhibition shall be understood to indicate an agreement on the part of the entrant, with all conditions set forth, including permission for reproduction in general publication and newspapers. All purchase award winners will be asked to relinquish copyrights to their work. Each artist is asked to sign a statement on the application to this effect.
EXHIBITION
The Mid-States Art Exhibition will be open to the public from December 12, 2010 to March 6, 2011. You are cordially invited to attend the Awards Reception on Saturday, December 11, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. CST. Awards will be presented at this time. Award winners, or their representatives, are requested to be present for the awards presentation.

AWARDS
Please note: Juror will select awards on November 14 after reviewing actual entries. All awards will be given at the discretion of the juror. Entries receiving purchase awards will become part of the Museum’s permanent collection. If the sale price stated is in excess of the assigned purchase award, the artist will be contacted immediately after the jurying and given the opportunity to accept or reject the award. NFS entries may be eligible for purchase awards. All entries are eligible for merit awards.
PURCHASE and MERIT AWARDS
Over $7,000 in purchase and merit awards, underwritten by individuals, corporations, foundations and philanthropic organizations, will be presented at the December 11 opening reception. Purchase award-winning works will become part of the permanent collection of the Evansville Museum.

ABOUT THE JURORS
Co-owners of ACA Galleries in New York City, Jeffrey and Dorian Bergen are advisors to the Board of Directors of the New York Open Center, one of the largest holistic education centers in the United States. They are on the Board of Faith Ringgold’s Children’s Museum of Art & Storytelling and members of the Art Dealers Association of America and ArtTable, a national professional organization for women in the visual arts.
